The Tata Institute of Social Science in Mumbai is a well-known social science college. It is based in Mumbai and has campuses in Tuljapur, Hyderabad, and Guwahati. TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) is a well-known college in the subject of psychology.

Course: Ph.D. in Applied Psychology About the Course: A doctoral-level course in applied psychology is Ph.D. Applied Psychology. The whole degree program lasts three years, and the curriculum is divided into six six-month semesters. The syllabus includes: Couple and family relationships (heterosexual and queer) and counseling and psychotherapy, Gender, sexuality and counseling and psychotherapy, Young people's mental health, Counseling, and interventions Number of Seats: 03 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications: The minimum academic qualification for admission to the Ph.D. programs is a Second Class Master’s or equivalent degree in the relevant subject awarded by a recognized university in India or abroad, with at least an average of 55 percent of aggregate marks, or a grade point average of 3.5 under the seven-point scale of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In the case of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates, the minimum eligibility is an average of 45 percent of aggregate marks, or a grade point average of 2.50.

  • Candidates who have an M.Phil or equivalent degree awarded by a recognized university in India or abroad are also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. Program.

  • Submission of a research proposal is a compulsory requirement for admission to the Ph.D. Program. A research proposal consisting of approximately 1,000 words should accompany the proposal and indicate the specification of the broad field of study, statement of the research problem and scope and objectives of the study, rationale for and the significance of the study, methodology to be followed, references, and the candidate’s research/work experience in that area,if any.

Application Fee For General candidates will be Rs.1535/-, for the SC/ST candidates and OBC candidates will pay Rs.410/- TISS Mumbai Ph.D. Selection Process The candidates will have to appear in the Written Test (Research Aptitude Test – RAT) and on the basis of their performances, they will get selected.

RAT Exam Pattern

  • The RAT exam will be 100 marks each.

  • RAT will assess research and analytical abilities.

  • The duration of the test paper is for 2 hours.

  • It will be three hours for applicants applying for two programs.

  • The interview will be for 100 marks.

  • The personal interview will assess your research aptitude, competence, subject knowledge, and suitability to join the research stream.

  • The test paper consists of Parts I and II.

    • Part I will assess analytical skills and it is for 40 marks.

    • You are required to answer one question from this part.

    • Both the choices carry equal marks and you need to answer all the questions within that.

    • Part II will assess conceptual and interpretative skills and it is for 60 marks.
